Why does this site exist?
This very basic site exists for the sole purpose of helping me keep track of my rather extensive physical media collections.
It ALSO allows me to provide a record for any future insurance claims. (Which I hope never happens.)
How did you come up with the site's name?
The name came from the tendency that my childhood self, younger siblings and friends had of referring to NES cartridges as 'Nintendo Tapes', for reasons now lost to History.
It probably had something to do with cassettes being the way we normally bought music back then and the games also being in a plastic shell.
Whatever the reason was no longer matters. What does matter is that 'Nintendo Tapes' is a name for a website that no one else has yet claimed and used. Enjoy!
How is this site organized?
Most of the lists are all VERY long and will have their own individual page for genre and/or medium. (Video games, Music CD's, DVD titles, LP's, et al.)
Each page will also have it's own menu system to help users navigate to the appropriate movie genre, game console, etc.
How often is this site updated?
Anytime I get a new item for one of the media collections, there's an update. It doesn't matter how many or how few new items there are to be added.
This site was designed to actually help me keep track of everything... Same goes for any corrections, deletions and style changes to the site's individual pages.
ANY update, no matter how small, will result in that particular page's 'last updated' section being changed.
Couldn't you have organized everything with Excel Spreadsheets or some website?
Can and actually did for the games. That's how I was able to fill this site with a complete list of everything... However, I wanted a website of my own. That's easier than having a seperate account on several sites, each dealing with one particular medium.
